Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350°F/180°C.
While preheating the air fryer, prepare the chicken. If there are any giblets in the cavity of the chicken, remove them and either save them for chicken stock or discard them. Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel.
Brush olive oil over the entire chicken, including the cavity of the chicken. Then sprinkle the chicken with the chicken rub or your favorite seasoning. Be sure to also season the inside of the chicken.
Place the seasoned chicken into the basket of the air fryer breast side down. Cook at 375°F/190°C for 30 minutes. Then, turn the chicken over and continue to air fry at the same temperature for another 25-30 minutes. The internal temperature of the chicken will be 165°F/75°C when cooked through.
Remove the chicken roast from the air fryer basket and let rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
