virginia’s molasses cookies- recipe 100 years old

Flatten slightly with the bottom of a juice glass dipped in sugar. Place 2″ apart on well greased cookie sheet.

    shortening, I use 1 stick margarine and 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    heaping, molasses
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
