At that time, the wristwatch didn’t exist as we know it today. Instead, men carried pocket watches — delicate but essential tools for keeping time.

The problem? Pocket watches were fragile. They could easily get scratched or broken during hard labor. To protect them, Levi’s added a small, sturdy pocket just above the main right pocket — perfectly sized for a pocket watch.

That’s right: the little pocket in your jeans is actually a watch pocket from the 1800s.
