Smothered Green Beans Recipe

 

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed.

4-6 slices bacon, chopped.

1 medium onion, sliced.

2 cloves garlic, minced.

1 cup chicken broth (or enough to cover the beans).

Optional: 2 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes.

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Step 1

Rinse the trimmed green beans under cold water. Optionally, chop them into smaller pieces.

Step 2

In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 10-15 minutes. Remove the bacon from the pan and set it aside, keeping the bacon fat in the skillet.
