Quick & Simple Donut Recipe

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk with the granulated sugar and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add in the melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually incorporate the flour into the wet ingredients until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or a glass to cut out donut shapes.
  7. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (180°C).
  8. Carefully place the donuts in the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  10. Coat the warm donuts in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar or top them with your favorite frosting.
