Linzer Kipferl: Classic Austrian Jam Cookies – Quick Recipe in 30 Minutes!

📖 Instructions:

1. Preparing the dough:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, salt and ground nuts.
  2. Add cold butter cut into pieces and rub it into the flour until crumbles form.
  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
  4. Form a ball of dough, wrap it in cling film and place in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.

2. Forming cookies:

  1. Roll out the chilled dough to a thickness of approximately 5 mm.
  2. Cut out crescents or other shapes using a cookie cutter.
  3. Cut a small hole in half of the cookies so that the jam will be visible after assembling.

3. Baking:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

4. Filling and decorating:

  1. Leave the cookies to cool.
  2. Spread a thin layer of jam over the whole cookies and top them with the cookies with the hole cut out.
  3. Sprinkle the finished cookies with powdered sugar.
