Step 1: Prep the Bread
Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Spread about 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the outer side of each bread slice (instead of butter).

Step 2: Toast the Bread
Place mayo-side-down in the skillet.
Toast for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
Set aside on a wire rack or plate.
Step 3: Slice & Season the Tomato
Cut the tomato into thick, juicy slices—about ¼ inch thick.
Season each slice lightly with flaky salt and cracked black pepper.
