Heirloom Tomato Sandwich

Step 1: Prep the Bread

  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  • Spread about 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the outer side of each bread slice (instead of butter).

    Tip: Mayo creates a beautiful golden crust thanks to its fat content—no butter needed!

Step 2: Toast the Bread

  • Place mayo-side-down in the skillet.

  • Toast for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp.

  • Set aside on a wire rack or plate.

Step 3: Slice & Season the Tomato

  • Cut the tomato into thick, juicy slices—about ¼ inch thick.

  • Season each slice lightly with flaky salt and cracked black pepper.

    Tip: Let the slices rest for a few minutes on a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.
